A nice calm trip to Apalachicola today. Arrived early afternoon and had a nice time exploring this cute little fishing/oyster harvesting town. The Apalachicola oysters are supposed to be wonderful but unfortunately the oyster population has decreased significantly. We did have a great dinner of raw oysters (from Galveston TX) and softshell crabs while we sat on the restaurant patio, overlooking the Apalachicola River and our boat, which was anchored not too far away. The town seems to be on an uptick with some nice restaurants, shops and a small but active art scene. There was quite a variety of architecture in the houses of the town.

When we were traveling here, we had noticed smoke in the distance, which turned out to be a controlled forest burn at a nearby state preserve. The trail of smoke from the burn added to the beauty of the sunset.
