We stayed an extra day in Alton and rented a car to go see St. Louis. We initially were going to the City Museum in St. Louis because it sounded funky. When we got there there were about 200 kids going through for their year end day trips. It is a more child focused museum, We decided to skip the museum and went to tour a few neighborhoods. We went to the area that the Washington University is at and had a great BBQ lunch. Also looked at the Italian neighborhood, "the hIll" and then went to the Missouri Botanical Gardens. We thoroughly enjoyed the gardens and got some much needed exercise, walking through the gardens. Of course, once we got our exercise we needed an ice cream treat and made our way to a St. Louis favorite, Ted Drewes. It was rich and yummy! We went back to the marina for a rest and then ended the night having dinner at a great brewery that had taken over an old baking factory.
