We were sorry to leave Chicago but are looking forward to exploring the west coast of Lake Michigan. We've met a lot of friendly people from Wisconsin. They have been very free with advice on where to go along the west coast, offering itineraries, their cars and even slips in marinas. Those nice mid-westerners!

We had a short (3 hour trip) to Waukegen today. We got a fairly early start and were looking forward to the Waukegan Independence day parade but storms came in about an hour after we landed in the marina. We hear that the town is kind of small and not very exciting so will probably just skip a visit and head to Racine tomorrow.
