Our second day was 7 locks/6.5 hours/21 miles. We did pretty good time wise because we had to wait an hour for a swing bridge to open and 40 min. For the fist locks, which was a flight of 4 locks. Our travels took us through some very pretty areas and narrow channels. The coast line and pine treed islands reminded us a lot of Maine.

We opted to take a small side trip on the biggest lake in the canal and stay at a marina in a town named Westport. It has a cute downtown area with a grocery store , ice cream parlors and a pastry shop which has butter tarts (a favorite treat in this part of Canada)

Kevin did an inspection of the engines on or engines yesterday and discovered a faulty alternator. Of course it is the weekend any no marine services are available . He’s been doing lots of internet searches for a replacement part but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to order the right part. Of course, we are in an area that doesn’t have taxi, Uber or car rental. We may be staying awhile until the part ships. We’ll see.

In the meantime we’ve gone on a couple of bike rides and a hike. We enjoyed the view from a mountain overlooking the town. We didn’t so much enjoy the biking up the mountain to the hiking trail entrance and the horse flies that accompanied us on the hike:)
