Sorry for the delays in posting to the blog. The internet access is really unreliable and I've tried posting this day 122 at least 5 times. It looks like I'll be posting the Bahamas trip very infrequently, until we get good access, but that might not be until we are stateside. Look for lots of postings mid-March!

I'm back!

Will try to catch up with all the Bahamas trip over the next few days.

Day 122

Short 1hour 20 minute voyage. Spanish Cay is a 3 mile long island that is a private island. It looks like it was developed to be a nice private resort but it has seen better days. There is a large marina but only about 6 boats in the marina today. If you stay in the marina, you are free to explore the island. There is a marina office with a restaurant and bar (not open today). Also a small pool, worn looking tennis courts, and a private air strip. We took our bikes out and explored the island. The office manager told us about a plane that had a mishap and was in the water at the end of the runway. She said that it was a good place to snorkel. We had initially thought we might go snorkeling there but when we got to the spot where the plane was, we felt it was too windy and just kind of creepy. We biked the mile airstrip instead. Leaving the runway, we saw a catamaran anchored near the crash site. 4 teenage boys were quickly swimming back to the boat. We heard one say “Really big shark near the fuselage!” I guess it was a good call not to go snorkeling!
