A very, very, wet day today. Ontario got some much needed rain. Although it was very heavy at times, the temperature was warm so being in soaking wet clothes all day wasn't too bad. It rained so hard that water leaked through the seams in our canvas. We ended up traveling from 9am-4:30pm. We traveled 31 miles and went through 9 locks. The next to last lock was Peterborough Lift Lock. It was the same type of lock as we went in earlier where your boat floats in a big container of water and is lifted/lowered to the other side of the lock. The Peterborough Lift Lock is the largest one of its type in the world. It runs strictly with gravity and uses no energy. Once we entered the lock a thunderstorm started rumbling. They lowered us down and told us to tie-off to the wall because the next lock down (and their lock) were now closed because of the thunderstorm. About a 1/2 hour later we were off again to our last lock, our marina for the night, and into dry clothes. We had a great dinner at a Belgium restaurant. Great mussels.
