A 6 hour voyage today that started with a challenge. Our anchor line had caught an eight foot timber and the challenge was how to move it after breaking both of our telescoping line hooks trying to get off the ship's line we brought up with the anchor the day before.

Kevin initially tried straightening the one that we still had and he broke it in half:( Since the log was resting against our anchor chain, we decided to try to bring the anchor up and hope that the movement of the anchor line would push it off. We tried several times and the timber just spun in place. Finally Kevin tried bringing the line up for a longer period of time and the log spun, went under water, and drifted to one side. Only a small bump as it passed our starboard side!

The rest of the day was uneventful. It was extremely hot and humid and we passed many a tow and a few pleasure boats (the first of seeing any for more than a week).

We settled into a small and protected marina in Havana IL and walked to the small downtown for dinner. We ended up at a bar/restaurant that had good food, although Kevin had a heart stopping "Shoe" for dinner. A "shoe" is an entree local to IL, we found out. It is a piece of Texas toast, topped with a 1/3lb hamburger, BBQ sauce, french fries, a whole lot of melted Velveeta cheese, and a crispy onion rings to top it off. A whole plate of fatty delight!
