It was a five hour trip today to Peoria. Another hot day and a lot of weekend boaters out on the river, as well as tows. The scenery is pretty much the same as the past few days but more industrial areas as we go closer to Peoria. The river remains high and we floated past the lock that we were supposed to go to today.

When we arrived in Peoria, we anchored across from the city. There was a riverside carnival going on as well as a concert with "Tailgate and Tallboys". There were quite a few fans, in western gear, attending the concert and it messed with the internet reception.

Caterpillar's headquarters is in Peoria and we visited their museum. The company has quite an interesting history. Part of the museum is a replica of their largest truck, which had a theater in the bed of the truck. The tires of the truck are 14" and are filled with nitrogen. They wear out every 3 months when in constant use. The truck is used for mining excavation.

Because the internet reception was so bad, we couldn't get the lay of the land and it didn't appear there was much to explore nearby. We opted to go back to the boat, put on the air conditioning and have a gin and tonic.
