Another super hot and humid day as we made our way to Ottawa IL. More beautiful green islands and river banks, tows, and some small boaters. We had to go through a lock at Starved Rock Canyon and we were supervised by a few families overseeing the locking process. We settled into the Heritage Harbor Marina, which is an nice marina with lots of development surrounding it. I'm not sure if I'd like a home here but at around $249k for a brand new home, I'm sure it appeals to many. The marina management is very accommodating. They had a courtesy car that we used to go get groceries the first day and then lent it to us for 6 hours to go to the Starved Rock State Park to be able to hike and explore the city of Ottawa, on our second day here. The second day was super humid and hot but we were tough and went to the state park for a 5 mile hike. We also had great late lunch at the wonderful lodge, and then toured the city by car. Thunderstorms rolled in by late afternoon.
