Day 25

Our trip to Ottawa was pretty uneventful. A little rain to start and we had to go slow a good part of the way because there was a lot of houses on either side of the banks and we couldn’t leave a wake. The houses also got bigger and closer together as we neared the city.

We stayed at a lock that was just 3-4 miles from downtown Ottawa. It was an easy bike ride. There us an extensive bike path that winds around and within the city.

Within a half an hour of docking -two large storm fronts came through. We stayed put because of lightening nearby and tornado warnings. By 4pm all was clear and we biked into town. With the fast moving clouds and blue sky, it was a beautiful time to see the city. We biked back to near our boat and had dinner (very tasty) at the Little Italy neighborhood.

Day 26

From 9 am-3 we were busy ubering to and fro to the Caterpillar distribution center to get the new alternator and install it. Installation went pretty smoothly but we were both like pretzels wrapped around each other to get it installed. Once installed we tested it and hurrah! It seems to work. Not bad for a couple of jamokes:)

The rest of the day we biked and explored more of the city -mostly the byWard market area. Also got ice cream.

Day 27 we moved our boat to the staging area near the last flight of 7 locks. We settled in and went to the Canadian National Gallery of art and then to a light show in the evening.
